Manual / Installation / Database config / No Java MySQL support

When creating a new database or connecting to an existing one after a reinstallation, you may receive this message:

Your version of Java does not support connection to a MySQL database. Please follow this short solution guide.

Some Java VMs do not by default come with MySQL support. Usually Conseal Server solves this automatically by downloading and applying the relevant libraries to its own installation. However, this message indicates that the automatic process failed (perhaps the server does not have access to the Internet).

The Solution

  1. Download the MySQL Connector/J software from the MySQL website. Either download (TAR or ZIP) is suitable.
  2. Extract the contents of the file to an 'ext' subdirectory of your Conseal Server install directory. You will need to create this directory if it doesn't already exist.
  3. Retry the operation (creating a new database or connecting to an existing one). There is no need to restart Conseal Server.
